Montreal’s ATSUKO CHIBA somehow crosses genre-defining borders with a cohesive and hypnotic blend of post-rock, progressive rock, and krautrock; weaving together a rich sonic tapestry that subverts through offbeat songwriting.
Asymmetric, yet seamless time signatures, otherworldly synthetic frequencies, patented harmonies, raga-inspired melodies, cryptic lyrics, and orchestral arrangements co-exist delightfully.
THE PEACE PIPERS remain one of Manchester’s jealousy guarded, best kept secrets. Virtuoso musicianship, is married to an earthen psychedelia that owes as much to The Incredible String Band as it does latter day Julian Cope. Comparisons do not do a band as good as the Pipers justice. Fundamentally, they rock.
