CANNONBALL STATMAN are an interdimensional rock band from New York City. Their frontperson has been described by LiveTrigger Magazine as “the king of modern anti-folk”, and the band has often been noted for their unique sound and stage presence, described by German Shepherd Records as “pure genius”. Their soulful, articulate songs often tell stories in nonlinear, surreal ways, with intricate, poignant instrumentation
JD MEATYARD came to prominence as front man of post-punk outfit Calvin Party (formerly Levellers 5). A firm favourite of the late John Peel, who described them as ‘the greatest undiscovered band’, they recorded eight Peel Sessions, charted in the all-important Festive 50, and released a number of well-received albums including ‘Lies, Lies and Government’ and ‘Sex and Other Life Tragedies’. Recent years have seen Jd continue to release records on Probe Plus. His anti-folk songs winning him airplay on Gideon Coe and admirers such as Half Man Half Biscuit with whom he regularly tours. Of Jd’s latest album, 2018’s ‘The Batchain Pullers’, Louder Than War opined ‘If there was still a Peel Festive 50 it would be in the Top Ten this year.’
VICE VERA is the solo project of Manchester-based musician Tamsin Middleton. Using loop pedals, haunting vocal melodies are layered with off-kilter guitars and percussive textures to create an insistent, joyous and confrontational sonic landscape. Echoes of PJ Harvey and Siouxie Sioux can be heard, though the songs retain a unique quality that is VICE VERA’S own.’
