Odmansbox • The Nature Centre • The Capoeira Band
A DOUBLE BRUMMIE INVASION, featuring dreamy sophisto-pop melodies, bouncy prog tendencies, and local guitar shamanship.
§ ODMANSBOX §
What’s in a name? Spotted in a poem, scribbled in a notebook, and bent slightly out of shape, ‘Odmansbox’ – with its suggestion of a musical knick-knack drawer or junk shop – reflects the Birmingham three-piece’s magpie aesthetic.
Off-kilter, poker-faced, jokey but deadly serious, their lugubrious bangers fleetingly recall all your favourite bands while never losing their elusive essence.
THINK: PREFAB SPROUT, DIVINE COMEDY, CATE LE BON, KEVIN AYERS.

§ THE NATURE CENTRE §
The Nature Centre plays three-minute pop songs, stuffed with ideas like a suitcase packed too late.
The band is Beth Hopkins on wind, banjo, synth and vocals, Oli Pyper on bass, synth and vocals, Hamish Campbell-Legg on drums, and Bird on guitar. They are from Birmingham.
THINK: FAMILY FODDER, FIELD MUSIC, SYD BARRETT, CARDIACS.

§ THE CAPOEIRA BAND §
Local group picks apart a folksy, familiar blanket and turns it into a beautiful tangle of fingerpicking, pastoralism and drone.
THINK: JOHN FAHEY, BERT JANSCH, CLUSTER, WOO
